Disaster Recovery
This can be found under Features Advanced - Disaster Recovery.
This is an important feature as it allows customers to route their inbound Numbers to another destination should the telephony software or network fail completely. The upstream carriers will reroute inbound calls only to these destination numbers, bypassing the telephone platform and the network infrastructure. Please ensure this is populated ASAP when adding new customers to the system, as it is updated to our DR network once a day, and services will be available by the following working day.
Default System Disaster Recovery Settings
You may enter 3 different numbers here that will be used in the event of a failure. The system will call these numbers one by one if the ringing mode is linear or call all the numbers simultaneously if set in the ‘all’ mode. Please be aware that the number you wish to divert to must not be a number that exists on our network. If you get ‘Error: This number can not be dialled on DR:’, it’s because the number belongs to the network, and there isn’t any point in diverting a number back to the network if the network has failed.
Customised Disaster Recovery Settings
Here, you can select which numbers will follow the default rules of DR divert, or you can make a different choice. If enabled, it is unticked, so the number will not follow any DR routing. If the default is unticked, then it will follow these new settings. This enables the first, second, and third DR numbers, plus the ringing mode. The current destination gives you an idea of where the number is
pointed to on the telephone platform. This could be the current Hunt Group, Queue, IVR, Feature Code or even direct to a Telephone Extension.
Remember to click Save at the top when completing your changes. At the bottom, you can also choose to enable all or disable all.
If you have more than 100 numbers, there is a tab at the top right to select the next 100.
