Send SMS

You can send an SMS out via the portal just like you can from a mobile phone. Go to Actions - Actions—Send SMSSMS, and itwhich will immediately take you to the belowscreen screen.below.

SMS are sent from Numbers that are part of your account. Some numbers can not only send SMS messages but also receive messages. Please check to make sureensure you use a compatible 2-way Number if you want to receive messages back.

To send a message, click on the relevant Number you wish to send a message from and click ‘Send New SMS’.

You can enter a single Number or multiple Numbers in the destination box. You can select contacts from the SMS contacts page if you have already built them from here. Select if you wish to show the name or send it from the Number.Number. Remember, if you want someone to reply to you and you are using a compatible 2-way number,number, then you must select to use the Number instead of the name. Then, type your message or choose from a template if you have created templates already. You can send a maximum of 3 x 160 characters in one go, so keep it brief. If you want to send a longer message, this should be sent via email instead.

Managing Contacts

You can manage your contacts by selecting Messages - SMS - Contacts >>.

Click NewNew, and you can complete the manual entry of the contacts.

You could also use the import button to import multiple contacts. We suggest that you insertinserting one manuallymanually, then exporting it and then export this and useusing it as the template to import more contacts.

Contact Groups

You can create contact groups and add contacts to this group.them. The idea is that if you want to send the same message to a group of contacts that are part of the ‘Sales Team’Team,’ for example.example, Thenthen it is simple to select the group you wish to send toto, and they will all be added to the SMS contacts of the message you are about to send.

 

SMS Templates

You can also create standard templates to send to people. This could be for services such as customer reminders or to tell them their dry cleaning is ready, for example.

SMS Autoresponders

The SMS Autoresponder allows you to use one of the template SMS messages as an auto-reply to someone sending you an SMS message. This could be something simplesimple, like, ‘We have received your SMS and will reply to you within 48 to 72 hours.’ If you set a number with an SMS Autoresponder message, the person will get the same message each and every time someone sends a message to that number.
