Remote access
This feature can be found under Features Advanced - Remote Access.
This service would typically be used if a customer wanted to record a call from their mobile phone using the hosted voice network or if they wanted to display the office phone number when out of the office.

Account settings
Name By default, it will allocate a number to the service. You can change this to something more meaningful. Description You can add a description to provide more information about this setting if needed.
Type You have 3 options. The default is ‘remote access menu’. This is the one we want to create this service. The other 2 are used for different methods of callback, for older services. Owner If an owner is added here then the user that owns the number can administer it as well as the system Administrator. Dial Plan It is possible on the same customer account to have various remote access accounts in different countries. This setting can be used to help the user located in another country use the dial plan that they would normally use for that country. Class of Service You can allocate a class of service to this remote access account to block certain numbers. Record Group If you want to record the calls that are made on this remote access account, you can select that here.
|
Caller ID on Internal Calls When you call internally, it will display the number you are calling from. You can allocate one of the numbers, telephone Extensions, or even a Feature Code from the list.
Caller ID on External Calls When making external calls, you can display the number you are calling from as default, or select one of the numbers from the list. Withhold Caller ID If you want to withhold your Caller ID, you can do that by selecting ‘Yes’. Locked If you choose ‘Yes’, then this account will be temporarily locked until you make a change. Play Balance This will play the balance of the customer's account from the main customer settings page. Automatically Dial This will dial out the number you enter here. This is not used for this remote access setup Play DTMF to caller when outbound call connects This will play the DTMF tones when dialling out the number you enter above. This is not used for this remote access setup

Remote Access requires all of the following
Caller ID This is the number you would enter if you were using the remote access service from the same number. It is a good way not to have to enter the 2 below options as you would be ringing from a trusted number. Account Number You can create an account number here. When a person dials into the remote access number, if the system doesn’t recognize the number (if you were calling from a hotel room or someone else's mobile), then you could use this account number to gain access to the service.
|
PIN If you want extra security you could enter a 4 to 10 digit pin here. PIN repeat This is to make sure you get the pin correct.

|
To use your new service, you need to have a number on the system that will point to the remote access server.

|
Create a feature code with the feature code number going to the Remote Access Menu eg 500 |
Then point the number you wish to use for remote access to the feature code 500. You can then dial the external number to make calls via this number. |

|
When you call the number, you will hear the system ask you to ‘dial the number you wish to call, followed by the hash key’. This means the system has already verified who you are by your telephone number, and you can proceed with using the service.
If you hear, ‘please enter your account number’ or 'please enter your pin’ Then you must do this first before you can access the menu.
