You can jump straight into a chat from the main presence screen by pressing the chat icon when hovering over a user's presence button, which opens a pop-up chat window.
The smaller pop-up window appears at the bottom of the presence screen. You can chat and message here as normal or press the expand icon to go to the main chat messaging page.
Clicking the Chat Icon on the left-hand side will bring you to the chat messaging page.
