Emergency Services Database Completion
When setting up the customer, this is one of the most vital parts you need to do to keep your customers safe. As part of providing telephone services for customers, you need to be able to provide Emergency Services telephone access. This is the ability to dial 999 or 112.
To enable these services for your customers you need to complete the emergency database for the British Emergency Services departments. What you are doing is providing the emergency services with crucial information about your customers who may call the emergency services numbers. This information is sent to the command centre even before the call is answered. This enables the Emergency Services to provide advanced help as they can identify exactly where the caller is ringing from and provide the most appropriate response.
The data entry process is performed under Numbers. Go to Features - Numbers.
If there isn’t any data completed under a Number it will show the ‘set emergency address’ in red on the right. Click on this and it will take you to the next section to complete.
You have the choice of selecting a business or residential option. Then complete the details with all the information about the customer. If you have more sites, you need to add extra Numbers to allocate different addresses. If you have users working on Telephones at home, again it is crucial that you allocate a Number per telephone. The Number doesn't have to relate to the area you are ringing from. What is most important is that the address matches where the telephone is. If a customer is a nomadic user like the MobeX app user. Then it would be fair not to set the details for this type of telephone Extension. But we would suggest you put their main office address/location in.
To apply the emergency number to the Telephone Line/Extension, please go to Features - Telephone Lines, select the Telephone Line you wish to add the emergency details to. On the main page of the Telephone Lines, you can see which telephones have not been allocated an emergency address location.
Under the Extension settings, click on the emergency location Caller ID and select the address where the telephone is located.
This can also be completed under the bulk change tab, if you want to select all the handsets at the same address.
Please note, Resellers carry the cost of ringing emergency services numbers for their clients. So, keep this in mind when taking on doctor's surgeries or residential retirement homes.
